Could the Dechoker also work for suctioning stuck food out of the esophagus? My husband has EoE and gets food stuck a couple times a year, wondering if this might help!

The following answer about use of our anti-choking device was provided Dr. Randall L. Snook, M.D. (internal medicine/gerontology), a member of Dechoker’s medical advisory team.

“The Dechoker would not relieve food stuck in the esophagus. When food enters the esophagus with swallowing, it has passed the epiglottis and is now longer in the upper airway. The Dechoker removes foreign bodies or food that has not passed through or beyond the epiglottis.”
