Start With Traditional Choking Rescue Methods

Before using the Dechoker® device, follow standard first-aid protocol as your first response.

Give 5 firm back blows between the upper back area
Perform 5 abdominal thrusts
Continue alternating between both techniques
Repeat until the airway clears or medical help arrives

Use the Dechoker® Device

If the airway blockage is not cleared, use the Dechoker® as your immediate next step.

Remove the Dechoker® device from its case
Choose the correct mask size (Adult, Child, or Toddler)
Position the person carefully if possible
Place the mask firmly over the mouth and nose

Place the Dechoker® mask firmly over the mouth and nose to create a secure seal before use.

Position the mask evenly over the face
Press gently but firmly around the edges
Ensure there are no visible air gaps
Hold the mask steady during the procedure

Pull the handle back in one smooth, steady motion to activate suction and help clear the airway obstruction.

Pull outward with steady pressure
Maintain the mask seal during use
Repeat if necessary until the obstruction is removed

Carefully remove the device from the face
Check for normal breathing and responsiveness
Remove any visible debris from the mouth
Continue monitoring the person until emergency help arrives
